The Auspicious Luxmi

AP Limited Editions presents a new Connoisseur series Maki-e pen honoring Luxmii, the revered goddess of wealth, prosperity, beauty, and auspicious fortune. She is depicted seated upon a lotus—symbol of purity and spiritual awakening—and flanked by two elephants, emblems of royal power, wisdom, and abundance. Together, these elements express harmony between material success and inner well-being.

This exquisite writing instrument is executed in the Taka-maki-e technique, a raised lacquer method that builds dimensional relief through successive layers of urushi lacquer. The luminous surface features rich gold tones interwoven with colored urushi, creating depth and radiance.

Decorative elements are enhanced with raden, the delicate inlay of lustrous mother-of-pearl, and fine gold hirame powder. The elephants are rendered in mother of pearl adding a soft, iridescent sheen against the gold ground.
