This masterpiece in Maki-e expresses some of the most famous traditional motifs of Japanese art and culture in a series of five bird and flower pair of circular motifs, that grace a sea of shimmering Mother of Pearl.

A rare blend of precious metal powders such as Platinum, Titanium, Silver and Gold are applied to create the myriad details of this fine writing instrument through multiple processes of applying Urushi, polishing, sprinkling of powders and inlaying fine pieces of Gold and Abalone. The features of the many birds are crafted using the smallest pieces of fine shells applied onto layers of gold powders and colored Urushi.

This fabulous expression of Maki-e is a fine tribute to the rich and varied symbolisms of the Japanese Cultural Heritage, skilfully and lovingly crafted by one of our most talented Artists.
