The measured repetition in Togidashi Maki-e creates a refined architectural cadence, interrupted only by small vermilion and black squares that appear like discreet flashes of color within the composition. At the crown and base, intricate red-and-gold Hyomon checkerboard detailing introduces a more ornamental note, framing the linear design with the precision of miniature lacquer work.
