Willow with Mochibana

The background glows with gradated gold created using Nashiji and Hirame gold powder, delicately sprinkled from both top and bottom. A graceful willow tree, crafted in the Takamaki-e technique, sways gently across the surface.

Adorning its branches are Mochibana—symbolic rice cake flowers that, in Japanese tradition, are displayed during the New Year to express wishes for abundance, prosperity, and good harvest.
