Asanoha

AP Limited Editions presents the traditional Asanoha (hemp leaf) pattern, a geometric motif long associated in Japan with growth, vitality, and resilience. A rich red urushi lacquer base forms the foundation of the pen, providing a vivid backdrop for the intricate pattern. The Asanoha motif is composed using aogai (blue shell), mother-of-pearl, and gold, then covered with red urushi and carefully burnished to reveal the luminous pattern beneath the surface. Round-cut gold kirikane is applied to add subtle points of brilliance, while additional gold detailing is painted over the design using the uwa-e technique.

The body and clip, are finished in a refined gold ground, completing a composition that combines traditional symbolism with the depth and radiance of classical urushi craftsmanship.
