THE KING OF THE JUNGLE

From Europe to Africa and Asia, the Lion has been an icon for stateliness, strength and valor across cultures and time. Symbolic in Ancient Greece and Rome, the Lion represents the constellation of Leo.

The lion is the biblical emblem of the tribe of Judah a prominent symbol in both the Old Babylonian and Neo-Babylonian Empire periods. He is also Narasimha (“man-lion”) in Hinduism when he is incarnated as the divine Lord Vishnu to destroy all evil.

The Lion appears through Chinese history as imperial guardians, and the lion dance, a form of traditional dance in Chinese culture is still performed at Chinese New Year, The island nation of Singapore derives its name from the Sanskrit word singa (lion) and pura (city).
