Plum trees hold a special significance in Japanese culture. The arrival of the plum blossoms is celebrated across the country in special festivals hosted in public parks, shrines and temples.

AP Limited Editions presents Umemi – The Plum Blossoms, crafted in the Chinkin technique of Japanese ornamental lacquer art, which is a wondrous technique where designs are meticulously carved onto Urushi lacquer and then gold and silver powder is sprinkled into the engraved sections. This technique requires steadfast concentration and excellent control of the fine chisels and instruments used for carving as there is absolutely no room for error. The most intricate details of the plum blossom is captured by the adept hand of the Master Artist.
