AP Limited Editions proudly presents The Regal Rooster Amid Splendid Sunflowers, a stunning work of Maki-e art, authored by master artist Kogaku San.

The Rooster is considered a sacred bird in Japanese culture. It is believed that the call of the Rooster awakened Amaterasu, the Japanese Sun Goddess to herald a new dawn. It is not surprising that the Rooster is seen amid Splendid Sunflowers, another solar symbolism. The Rooster is also prominent in Chinese culture as the tenth sign of the zodiac.

Multiple techniques of Maki-e feature in this pen – Togidashi Maki-e, Taka Maki-e and Shishiai Togidashi Maki-e are a few noteworthy examples. The Regal Rooster is embellished with 18 karat Gold, with brilliant hues of red and orange Urushi gracefully applied over. Intricate inlays of mother of pearl and abalone sparkle against a backdrop of shimmering, undulating blue Urushi. The splendid sunflowers, adorned with 18 karat Gold, exude the energy and dynamism of Mother Nature.
