AP Limited Editions presents a splendid tribute to the legendary celestial animals that guard the four cardinal directions in Japanese Buddhist mythology. The Guardians symbolize four directions (North, South, East and West), as well as four seasons; Seiryu? East and Spring, Suzaku: South and Summer, Byakko: West and Autumn, Genbu: North and Winter. In various contexts, the number “4” in Japanese culture symbolizes the foundation and basis of the natural world, representing order, stability, trust, and universal love. It carries meanings such as divine protection, warding off disasters and misfortunes, dispelling evil spirits, and prosperity and wealth. Crafted in Togidashi and Taka Maki-e, adorned with metallic lacquer, gold, silver, platinum and pearl powders; a traditional Sayagata pattern is created using Togidashimaki-e technique. The Sayagata pattern is an auspicious symbol of prosperity and longevity.
