AP Limited Editions honors the ancient tradition of doll making in Japan, in a Maki-e adaptation of a work of Komao Hayashi, a celebrated artist. Costume dolls are an integral part of traditional Japanese arts and crafts and are an amazing art form that blends various techniques of traditional craft such as wood sculpture, engraving, Maki-e, Kimekomi and the use of mixed media. The dolls are designed around themes that represent the many facets of Japanese culture and many are considered national treasures by the Japanese Government, available for viewing at The National Museum of Modern Art, Tokyo, The National Museum of Modern Art, Kyoto and Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japan.

For 2008, AP Limited Editions Invites you to explore the myriad expressions of this ancient craft in “A TRIBUTE TO HAYASHI.”
