Carp and Waterfall

AP Limited Editions celebrates the virtues of perseverance, fortitude, and courage in the symbolism of a Carp swimming upstream. This imagery is inspired by a mythical Chinese tale of a carp that turned into a Dragon by successfully swimming up a waterfall and is crafted in many interesting techniques of Maki-e lacquer art. The waterfall is created using the a raised textured Ishiji Nuri technique and the Carp in raised Gold Taka Maki-e. The rocks and water splashes are defined in Gold Kirikane and Blue Raden.
