Mandarin Ducks and Maple

This fabulous feature in Maki-e is created using Shishiai Togidashimaki-e technique, the highest level of Maki-e Lacquer Art. A pair of Mandarin Ducks in raised Taka Maki-e swim proudly against a shimmering silhouette of maple leaves, crafted created with Shukin, also in raised Taka Maki-e. Both ducks and maple leaves are adorned with Blue Raden. The resplendent water and ripples are created with black urushi lacquer and gold powder.
