Sakura and Singing Birds

Seasonal imagery is a central theme of Japanese Art. Sakura and Singing Birds honor this tradition of celebrating the beauty and brevity of the seasons and the flora and fauna that enrich them.

The Cherry blossoms called Sakura in Japan herald the arrival of Spring and the sweet melodies of the singing Japanese Bush Warblers, called the songbirds or Uguisu; celebrate the transition from Winter to Spring.

This beautiful feature is crafted in the highest level of Maki-e Art techniques, namely Shishiai Togidashi; with the use of Gold, Silver and Palladium powders, great green turban shells and pure Urushi colors.
