The Monk in Meditation tells the story of the power of meditation in overcoming the might of a great Dragon. Inspired and adapted from a Buddhist legend, this stunning Maki-e feature beautifully expresses the frustrations of the Dragon, springing out of the water, attempting to disturb and destroy the meditating Monk.

In a state of trance, the seated Monk is blissfully unperturbed by fear or anger; stoic and composed in the face of adversity.
